It comes to Spring.

Spring is traditionally the most unstable time of the year, it may be joyful or gloomy, colorful or monochrome – generally speaking spring always has surprises.

When I started doing art (in 70’s) my favorite painting was “Spring fever” of Rockwell Kent. This artist was extremely popular among Soviet citizens and has become honorary member of Russian Academy of Arts and laureate of International Lenin award “For consolidation of peace among nationalities”.

At that moment I was interested in nature conditions, I experienced colors so deeply that my saliva was changing its taste from sweet to sour and than to salty.

In the “Spring fever” art piece nature have met my soul experience, it provoked nervousness, impatience and excitement. The only thing that stressed me — were horses. They trampled the earth and the thud of hooves is always a bit irritating. That’s why I have chosen silent animals for my project – worms, butterflies, bumblebees, beetles – they just touch the earth. I was interested in small details, unseen connections, which form continuity of life and vital impulsion. So silent and immaterial are also mythology characters or ancient spirits, which sometimes take different and often hybrid forms.

In 1991-1992 I created installations “Home museum 1 and 2”. This exhibition may be the third home museum, as there is also a shadow of nervous collection of a bit gloomy art collector.

A new exhibition of the Moscow art scene significant artist – Sergey Shutov, is dedicated to physiology and mythology of the heart, which is the main mechanism of a human life support.

Sergey Shutov is intellectual artist, who is avoiding closed style in his projects, but his language and intonation are always recognizable. The author through delicate playing with meanings turns to the main problem of his art – relations between myth and reality, science (medicine) and art.

Ольга Горохова, обживая два не всегда близких культурных пространства — России и Западной Европы своим искусством находит точки сопряжения между ними. Её редкая ныне по своему аутентичному звучанию живопись становится тем необходимым универсальным языком в понимании сложного очень личного, очень женского взгляда и отношения с окружающим миром.

Этим миром для художницы становится специфический мир кино, отсюда, собственно, и аппеляция в названии выставки к знаменитому фильму Феллини «Город женщин». Принципиальным отличием от маэстро-режиссёра станет взгляд именно женщины, взгляд изнутри, при этом столь же откровенный и калейдоскопичный, сотканный из выразительных стоп-кадров женских образов хрестоматии мирового кинематографа.

What you see at the exhibition is, so to say, a form, which is free of function and turned to an abstract sign. The name of exhibition “Russian Fortress” is assumed. It is not a building but a cipher, where some meaning is encoded.

There is no point in searching straightforwardness in these works, as everything here is irrational. The objects “live” after there own paradigms, disobeying the architecture order and structure, they are free from rational terms. As for drawings, they don’t know geometry key elements.

The object is self-absorbed, locked on it’s play with form and meaning, detached from the real world system, and is almost germproof. Here the time is formalized by the minimalism language, which offers to a viewer to escape from redundancy and leaves a feeling of some understatement and secret.

Here the objectlessness shows the detachment from the visual world and becomes a logic appearance of an absolutely locked сomposition center – a sacral space, where it is impossible to enter or to exit, but where you can look in narrow loopholes, walking through labyrinths, or view it from above.
